Get paid to work at this year's elections
Derbyshire is to go to the polls on Thursday 6 May 2021 to elect its county council for the first time in four years.
The paid election roles which people can apply for include presiding officers, poll clerks and count assistants. Training is given to successful applicants.
As well as county council elections, some Derbyshire district and borough councils along with Derby City Council are also holding their own elections, and there is an election for the role of Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner across the city and county on the same day too.
Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 6 May and votes will be counted on Friday 7 May 2021.
The county council elections are run at a local level by district and borough councils, and while many people have already put themselves forward for an election role, there are still vacancies in all areas.
Green Entrepreneurs Fund launched
If your business is interested in developing and investing in green energy and carbon reduction schemes then we want to hear from you.
Small and medium-sized businesses across Derbyshire are being invited to a free virtual launch event on 17 March 2021 to find out how they can apply for grant funding to support new initiatives as part of our £2m Green Entrepreneurs Scheme.
Businesses in Derbyshire with up to 250 staff and micro-businesses with up to 10 staff are invited to apply for the grants.
Book on to the virtual launch, being held from 9am to 10am on 17 March 2021, by visiting the East Midlands Chamber's website.
We want to hear from young people
Are you aged 18 – 30? Or do you know someone who is? We're keen to hear from people in this age group about how we can support them on the road out of 'lockdown'.
We'd like to know what they think about community testing – aimed at people without symptoms – and the vaccine as the route out of Covid-19 restrictions.
So we'd appreciate your help to spread the word to your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends to encourage them to have their say.
We'll be holding one-hour online focus groups in the evenings of the week beginning 15 March and we'd love them to take part.
Please email email@example.com to register your interest and find out more.
